Ryan is openly endorsed as the “go to fitness expert” in San Luis Obispo County. He has been sought after to present his innovative fitness, wellness, and rehabilitation topics to many large organizations in San Luis Obispo County, like PG&E, Morris & Garritano, The Family Care Network, French Hospital, Cal Trans, The Department of Social Services, Exchange Club, Rotary Club and Kiwana’s.
Ryan’s client list reads as a “Who’s-Who” of leading local as well as professional athletes, leading business professionals, and good ol’ “regular Joe’s” (like he claims to be himself). And since starting his career in 1996 and launching Athlon in 2003 one could easily say that Ryan’s fitness and performance services has improved the lives of literally thousands of San Luis Obispo County residents.
Ryan started Athlon because it was the obvious progression of his passion to help people look, feel, and perform at their best. A black-belt in Karate, he competed as a kickboxer achieving a ranking of #3 in North America by the International Kickboxing Federation. He’s always loved competing and maintaining optimum fitness levels and loves helping others achieve their “elite” self too.
He was raised on a farm here in California where the hard physical labor made him strong and athletic, and the typically long, farmer-life days developed his “hard-headed” work ethic. He is a “never-say-die” kind of person and you’ll often find him working hard here at Athlon (either in the facility with a client or construction project, or in his office researching new fitness programs). He endeavors to be an innovator in the fitness and performance industry and make an impact on the lives of San Luis Obispo County residents. Bottom line: he’s helped thousands of people improve their lives through better fitness and performance – and he can help you too.

After graduating from Cal Poly in 2000, Andy’s passion for sports and helping others led him to a career in personal training in Los Angeles. Sarah is originally from Washington, D.C. From an early age,
she participated in sports like soccer and basketball. In high school, she
competed in pole vault and high jump. After high school, Sarah moved out
west to explore the California scene and pursue a degree in Kinesiology at Cal
While in school at Poly, she quickly developed a passion for mountain biking and outdoor adventures. If she wasn’t studying, she was outside on the trail, or in the gym weightlifting. She quickly realized setting strength goals in the gym directly translated into better mountain biking, making it even more fun. This, and her love for studying the human body, lead her to pursue personal training as a career path.
In 2016, Sarah became certified as an ACSM personal trainer, then graduated from Cal Poly in 2017. She moved to San Francisco to continue developing her craft in personal training, working at Trainer SF, then Equinox. She worked with a wide range of clients and quickly climbed the ranks on the Equinox team. She obtained her precision nutrition level 1 certification in the fall of 2018 to continue growing as a coach, but luckily for Athlon, her love of the outdoors and mountain biking brought her back to SLO County!
Sarah loves helping our clients find their “flow,” as she says. Whether they want to look better, feel better, or perform better, (or all three!), her passion is to help!

David’s adventure into health and wellness began many years ago following a traumatic motorcycle accident. At the age of thirteen he spent over a month in Valley Children’s Hospital fighting to recover and learn to use his lower extremities all over again. Following the trauma, he spent six months in physical therapy to develop symmetry of motion in his body. Being so enveloped by the world of rehab and what it had shown him, he began the journey to becoming a specialist in movement and patterns of the body.
Following high school, he received his bachelors in exercise science from California State University Fresno. While at Fresno State he was one of two applicants to be accepted to provide corporate wellness and training for the company POM Wonderful. While providing training and going to school he volunteered at Fresno Community Hospital and local physical therapy clinics until he was hired as a physical therapy aide. After graduation he began working full time in the world of physical therapy fine-tuning his eye for movement discrepancies.
In June of 2019 he graduated Salutatorian from the world-renowned Palmer College of Chiropractic West and received the Clinical Excellence Award. He now holds a doctorate in chiropractic and many certifications, including SFMA, ELDOA, FAKTR and RockTape. He also has informal training in FRC (Functional Range Conditioning), DNS (Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization), ART (Active Release Technique) and many other forms of training and soft tissue therapies. His approach is to find the areas causing dysfunction and train the underlying problem not the symptom, helping people move and feel better, then achieve their fitness and performance goals.
When not training at Athlon or teaching a mobility class, you will find David in the outdoors. He is an avid hiker/fisherman. He also loves playing baseball, boxing, and running Spartan races.

Kathy has been helping Athlon run efficiently since 2010. She brings many years of business experience as well as a love of fitness and nutrition to Athlon, (and the ability to get sh@# done!…) Shortly after moving to Paso Robles to start a new business with her husband, Kathy became a Private Training client at Athlon. When the position for an Administrative Assistant became available Kathy immediately applied.
Athlon was exactly what she was looking for in a company: a positive environment, an opportunity to help people reach their goals, and the ability to have a flexible schedule to do what she loves best… travel! Since then she has taken over Athlon’s Member Services Department as well as accounting and human resources. She’s a great leader and an invaluable asset to the team Athlon and it’s members.
When Kathy is not planning her next getaway vacation she enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband, hiking the local trails, wine tasting, and playing pickleball. Kathy also fulfills her passion for fitness and nutrition by staying up to date on the most current research trends. She looks forward to not only reaching her personal best at Athlon but also being an integral part of Athlon’s future growth.
